Re[2]: [at-l] Why off topic, SUV'S

Everyone should establish their own priorities. If you think repeated wars in
the Middle East, more dead American Troops, more terrorist bombings, extra
costs, extra danger, more dead kids... are worth the convenience of thinking you
are safe from ordinary traffic and motoring hazards, you have every right to buy
and use an SUV.

But most of us only rarely have a real use for these gas-guzzling machines. A
couple of decades ago, I asked a forester for one of the nation's largest paper
companies what they used for 4WDs on the million acres of company lands in
Maine.

I was told: We don't use 4WDs. "They typically are only needed a few yards once
or twice a year. The extra expense is not warranted.
