In among the rhetoric, were some facts, that SUV users ought to consider. I've
heard again and again on this list and elsewhere about the number of lives SUVs
save.

 The article and the book from which the article is drawn, quotes industry,
 insurance and government figures that show that you are more likely to die
 driving an SUV than in most other cars on the road. Children are especially
 vulnerable when being driven in an SUV.

 Most of the extra deaths are single-vehicle accidents. SUV users seem to be
 killing themselves at alarming rates, rates that approach snowmobile deaths in
 Maine. Four have died already and most of us have only had significant snow for
 about two weeks.
