Seriously, have used the same down bag on the AT, PCT
and two treks on the LT (and throw in some New
England, Colorado, Wyoming and Utah hiking) and have
never had  a problem with the bag.

The secret? A trash bag inside the stuff sack. I also
have a Dryloft shell on the  bag. Though it is
expensive, the PTFE shell (which is what it is called
nowadays) seems to help quite a bit. Water resistant
and breaths well. Can't beat the warmth to weight
ration as well.
