[at-l] Bye, y'all

Hey gang,
I've enjoyed being part of the AT-L experience, but it's time to move on. I'm
so busy hiking and traveling that I hardly have time to check my email
anymore, let alone write a thoughtful post. The good news is that my career
is taking off ... see Backpacker Feb 2003 page 17 for an example. I've signed
several new book contracts that will keep me on the road, on the trail, and
right here at home in Florida for the next couple of years, including a
current collaboration with Bart Smith to capture the essence of the Florida
Trail.

I see no AT thru in my future, nor do I feel a strong need for one anymore.
I'm accomplishing my goals, hiking, and having fun, meeting great friends and
plotting hikes of 120-500 miles instead of a 6-month journey. I'll probably
section the AT eventually.

So....it's been great. I'm going to kill off this email address soon, all it
ever does is collect spam (and dust) these days and remind me of
relationships slipped away and never to be recaptured. If you want to keep in
touch, write me before month's end and I'll pass along my new address. I'll
still be lurking and posting on the FT-L, which is where I belong. Just
finished a 9 day, 107 mile hike around Lake Okeechobee: the Big O. Woo-hoo!
What a blast. Going for my end-to-end on the FT in 2003, perfectly content to
be a section hiker with 550 miles behind me, 750 to go.

Y'all have fun, and play good at the Ruck. I'll see you at the Gathering
sometime.

Cheers, Navigator
