[at-l] No Hunting?

I've shared this before, but it is appropriate for the thread now running o=
n our list. Last year when hiking through Pennsylvania I took the followin=
g picture. In light of the recent hunting injury on the trail, it doesn't =
seem as funny as it did then.

The picture shows the hunting zone markings and a white blaze marking the A=
T as the trail passes between them. There is about a ten foot path between=
the large hunting zone markings where the AT is "protected". I've always =
wondered if the hunter's bullet just stop as they attempt to cross the AT, =
thereby protecting any hikers from harm. Having the hunting zone so close =
to the trail just seems a bit ludicrous to me.
