At the risk of getting drummed away from the campfire, IMO only you can
decide if you can or should do this hike.  Other commitments, financial or
family, have caused a number of us to adopt the "doing the AT 100 miles at a
time on the two decade plan" mode, which works for at least some of us.

Sometimes this "free will" thing is a blessing, sometimes not.  <VBG>
