[at-l] RE: Bryson's Book

I'm with you on this one. I love to read, and to write, but reading on the
trail didn't seem to fit. I also can't listen to the radio or to music when
I'm out. I got one of those itty-bitty Brunton radios, thinking it might be
nice - - and actually tried to force myself to use it, but to no avail. I
hated the noise of it. I hated the intrusion.

I did carry a book with me on my last section hike. A book of short stories
(could tear it apart by full story that way, and leave an entire story at a
shelter). And forced myself to read a few of them (I was carrying the dang
thing after all!). But I didn't enjoy the reading like I normally do, when
it seems I can't put the book down. Maybe if I was doing the whole trail
I'd come to crave reading again while out, but I'm not too sure about that.
There is something about it that doesn't seem to fit well for me.

I do enjoy writing while out, though. Capturing some of the stuff going
through my head. That fits.
