Gators can be far more dangerous critters than bears.
Fortunately, they are rather passive.  You have to be really
close to one and it has to be hungry.  In my early days, I
walked right past many gators that could easily have taken
me down, but they didn't.  Later in life I learned to see
them a long way off, and the few times a gator has come
after me, I knew what to do.
