About a day or so north of Irwin there is a gap. Heading
south you will cross a highway from the inside of a
near-hairpin curve to the outside. The north side of the
road is very trashy. It seems like there is a small gravel
parking lot on the northside of the highway, but to the
right of the trail. (The parking lot may be on the southside
of the highway. I can't remember for sure) I am pretty sure
that there is a "Welcome to North Carolina" sign to the
left. After you cross the road, the AT follows some sort of
gravel road up a steep incline to a powerline. Can someone
tell me the name of this gap?
It is possibly Indian Grave Gap...
Also, can someone describe Cherry Gap Shelter? (To me, I
mean...)
