Great trip report!
I was up in the Gaspe last September, day hiking around Forillion, Mt 
Jacques Cartier & Albert. Incredible place!
I had lunch at a shelter just outside of Matapedia(sp) that was very new, 
very well built, clean, and hardly used.
My question for you is about "planning" a backpack on the IAT in Quebec. 
It's my understanding that you must "reserve" shelter space, and pay $$ for 
every night you spend out on the trail. Is this true? if so, to what extent? 
I can't imagine preplanning a long distance hike and sticking to the plan!
