[at-l] Tuscarora Trail, North Section

Yesterday, Friday, Skeeter and I completed the North Section Of the =
Tuscarora Trail(110 miles) in 7 days. This section of the trail =
intersects the AT near the Darlington Shelter and ends at Hancock, MD. =
on the Potomac River. I saw only two AT section hikers at the Darlington =
Shelter and no other hikers for the remaining 7 days. In fact, the only =
people on the trail were turkey hunters. Tha Darlington Shelter was =
very clean and there was plenty of water flowing from the spring.
The trail is well marked and except for the last day presents a =
challenging hike. There are miles and miles of rocks, great views of =
the Cumberland Valley(when it's not raining), steep ups and downs, some =
snakes, and long stretches with no water. We had several serious =
storms, but still were able to maintain a good pace. Skeeter is taking =
a down day in Hancock and will continue the South section next week, =
ending at the AT in the SNP around Milepost 21. I've already done the =
South half so I will spend some time tomorrow doing trail maintenance on =
the AT near Front Royal.=20
All in all, it was an enjoyable 7 days. =20
