I've got a Mountainsmith Tour (somebody mentioned them the other day) which 
has alternate suspension options.  There's a neck strap I use to carry it in 
front and I caribeen those straps to the shoulderstraps of my pack (holds it 
in place without the waist belt).  I put it on after the pack gets cinched 
up.
