North Face has made a coat called MET5 that is kinda wild.  It weighs 27 
ounces, and uses Polartec Heat Technology panels, and can provide up to 114 
degrees of warmth according to an article in USA Today.  The panels are 
powered by two rechargeable lithium batteries.  A thermastat that they say 
can be manipulated by gloved hands is wired into a pocket.  It runs about 
$499 and the initial production run is already sold out, more should be in 
stores by fall.  What a concept :)  And lightweight, even!!
