Heather: If you are going to do more than "heat and eat" I'd stick with the 1.4 liter pot. It allows you to boil water for drinks while still leaving enough left for cooking supper. And the extra capacity allows stirring room without slop over. The extra ounce or two is worth it. I wouldn't think backpacking without at least a liter pot and usually I carry two liters. Weary
