[at-l] Fw: Thru hiker Survivor Fire
Thanks; has anyone ever tried this? Is the leather important? Or can
shoelaces suffice? Implies that a knife is needed? Is it easy to find
wood that can be used in this fashion (in the rain/dark/cold?). The
success of firebuilding seems to depend on getting the right type of
wood.
Don't get me wrong, this is good stuff (even if it dates to 1925).
I'm just wondering if its a skill thats worth the time and energy to try
to obtain.
I can imagine a contest at a future Ruck....
