[at-l] A.T. parking.....

To Matt---

I dunno if anyone's compiled a collection of all the parking lots on the
Trail on one single list..... this information IS found in the individual
Guidebooks published by the Appalachian Trail Conference and local Trail
Clubs (see www.atconf.org for more info). All of these Guidebooks have
Trailhead, Parking, and Road Accessibility information; this info is also
found in the series of AT Guides published by Stackpole Press (5067 Ritter
Rd., Mechanicsburg, PA.) called "Exploring the Appalachian Trail."

What you might want to do is figure out approximately WHERE you'll be
hiking (North Carolina, Northern Virginia, Vermont, whatever) and then get
your hands on the best Guidebook for that particular section; this is the
best way to find out about the area you actually have in mind. Also, when
you've narrowed it down to a specific location, you can run it by this list
for comments, ideas, suggestions, as some trailheads and parking lots are
better (i.e. more secure) than other ones.
