[at-l] Scanning Question

A (perhaps dumb) question: Why are you scanning maps?

Commercial CDs with topo maps are cheaper (at least in many cases) than
paper maps at least the plasticized versions of paper maps. For example the
CD set for the appalachian trail from ATC is significantly cheaper than the
paper copies ($84.95 vs. $205.90 for the complete set) and includes the
stuff from the books as well.. Plus you get real topo maps that give much
more detail and cover much more than the trail coridor. You can make your
own notes on the maps (like "this spring is dry after July 1st") using the
software supplied and print out a customoized copy at any desired resolution
of any little or big area.
