Sounds like our parents took the same class in child washing...

Yes, actually that's the whole point.  A mesh net works great as a hammock
when the weather is mild.  You can also hang it from a branch, and it makes
a nifty swinging seat.  Less-lethal nets used by law enforcement are made of
Kevlar, and are very light and strong.  If you can get one, I highly
recommend it - although the mesh is 4 inches, rather than the 2 inches I
prefer for a hammock.  I always carry one and use it for hanging food, a
quick seat, and sometimes just to get off the wet ground.  A hammock and a
tarp make an excellent shelter here in the South where the weather is mild,
although bug netting is a must...

Such a net - or mesh hammock - would be perfect for snagging stinky
hikers...
