Perhaps the love of guns has similar deep emotional issues, particularly if 
homicide using pencils, thumbs and other nominally "non-weapons" is such an 
attractive fantasy. If your desire is to kill, maim or intimidate, I would 
suggest that a thumb would be the ultralightweight to go, as it has so many 
uses.

A gun has only two purposes, to propel a bullet into an object or to be 
used to pound the object. Leki's, pencils, knives, boot strings, ropes, 
branches, rocks and other commonly encounter gear and objects have multiple 
uses. Why bring such a heavy piece of gear with such a limited function?

Come on, get real.
