The key thing that bothers many hikers about gun toting hikers, is that
the gun toters have a piece of gear that can kill. Water filters, DEET,
rain gear, lug soled boots, GPS's, radios, cell phones, umbrellas and
the rest are only bad fashion statements by comparison. 

BTW, the Freud quote was nicely done. Personally, I have no desire to
be penetrated by anyone's phallic symbol, and feel quite comfortable
with that level of emotional immaturity.
