Here's a link to something I'm considering trying... 
http://www.sportkilt.com/ .  You can get poly/wool, poly/rayon or 
cotton.  All are washable and under $60.  They have Velcro closure and 
cover a range of waist sizes so as you lose weight on a long trek it will 
still fit.  Yes, I would wear some coolmax underwear (I just know someone 
would ask).  How about you Weary?  Would you go for a hiking kilt?
