[at-l] Lottery (off subject)

It was/is used a great deal in "pop psychology" to suggest that one
could do something about stressors/stress reduction to reduce risk of
illness. The original study occurred late 40's early 50's at a TB
sanatorium. The subjects were medical interns and residents. The idea
was to predict which ones would get TB while working there. To some
degree the findings have been expanded for broader populations and
outcomes, possibly with validity.

The key message from the stress event score list was to consider what
was/is going on for you before making major changes that you have
control over. For instance, consider you just won the lottery, got
married, had twins, your parents are ill, you changed your job and were
sued by coworkers who want a share of the lottery stakes. This might
not be the best time to go visit a TB sanatorium.
