[at-l] My final gear list?

John, I wonder why you are taking a floorless tents in January. I was
greatful for shelters in the Smokies when I was caught by 30 inches of
snow. I found few ways to clear potential tent space, much less assess
the features of tenting areas under the snow. Frozen ground would have
been rouhg to push tent pegs in, although I know many use bags of snow
tied to the tent for anchor points.

If you have a bunch of snow, your heat will eventually make a puddle,
further costing you heat as it melts. The ground cloth may settle
faster than the tent. I'd rather have an oldfashioned Nomad with its
bathtub bottom, but maybe you know something I don't (very likely!).

So, what are your plans if you get caught in a Nor'Easter?

Bill...
