Some Notes On My Gear & Food
This will be my first winter hike using the Wanderlust 2-4-2 Tent.
Decided to take Great Auk then layer my clothing for increased warmth
Besides my backyard this will be the first time using Mount Washington pads
in the woods.
With the exception of my backyard I've never used the Camp 6 Point
Crampons.
Marmot Precip pants are more durable for some of the scrambling I may be
doing.
SealSkins will be keep feet dryer & warmer in deep snow & wet conditions
Sharp Telmail so I can easily keep in touch with family & friends
Listening to the Sangean radio in camp will keep me alerted to the weather
& any Yankee trades
I'll be mailing home maps & trail data as I finish those sections.
Nalgene Wide Mouth Collapsible work better than Platypus in below freezing
weather
I'll hike with 1 quart container under my jacket to keep it from freezing.
A very tightly secured Nalgene container goes inside my sleeping bag to
keep it from freezing
12"x12" Ensolite pad will keep my butt from freezing during breaks & in camp
I have over a case of Esbit tabs & they need to be used.
Most of this hike I'll be resupplying every 2nd or 3rd day.
Breakfast: 2 packages of Little Debbie Nutty Bars & package of Carnation
Instant Breakfast
Snacks: will consist of candy bars, gorp, granola bars
Lunch: will vary between the following tuna fish, cheese, summer sausage &
crackers
Snacks: will consist of candy bars, gorp, granola bars
Dinner: Lipton dinners or similar type meal & Carnation Instant Breakfast
Bedtime: snack will consist of candy bars, gorp, granola bars
Trash compactor bag used as liner for backpack will be used to store my
boots inside sleeping bag
I'll also store wet clothes inside trash compactor bag & sleeping bag at
night
I had problems with Equinox bivy zipper so I'll take 5'x8' Silnylon tarp
Taking Patagonia Puffball Pants For Additional Warmth Rather Than Smartwool
Long Johns
For better traction & protection I'll be wearing my Salomon boots
I'll be mailing home maps & trail data as I finish those sections.
I'll be wearing RBH Designs vapor barrier sock liner mostly during long
rests & camp
