Re[2]: [at-l] Maps

Maps are like life preservors when flat water canoeing. They rarely are needed,
but when they are needed, they are extremely important.

Aside from the very real, but very rare safety issue, the value of maps depend
on why you are hiking the trail. If you simply want to have done the trail,
maps are only rarely needed. But if you want to experience the trail, explore
the side trails, visit the fascinating overlooks, waterfalls, big trees, and
such, and know the names of the adjacent mountains and something about the
surrounding terrain, country and towns, maps are very valuable.
