[at-l] Good places to see meteors in GA?

Not specific to Georgia, but some general viewing tips for North America...

Anywhere away from city lights with a broad view of the sky should work
well. The less light pollution, the more the fainter meteors will be
visible. Even if you can't get away from the city, if the showers really
peak as expected, you'll still likely be able to see quite a few meteors.

They are called the Leonids because they will seem to emanate from the
constellation Leo. You probably want to watch the eastern sky, southeast if
you are above 22 degrees and northeast if you are below, but, you are likely
to see the meteors in any portion of the sky.

Bring a lounge chair or your sleeping pad so you can lie down and watch.
This beats the neck ache you might otherwise get after a couple of hours of
viewing.

Use a red flashlight if you have to see something so that you don't totally
ruin your night vision.

The peak is expected to be around 5:00am eastern time - adjust earlier the
further west you go. But, that doesn't mean there won't be significant
activity earlier or later than peak.

There are some good web sites out there devoted to the Leonids. I found
them using Yahoo and plugging in leonid meteor shower 2001. And, they are
not all North America centric. If you are elsewhere the viewing times and
directions will vary.

Have fun.
