Just for the record, it was no one at the Gathering.
One person on the plane, another person on the bus
ride to the Gathering. Nope, everyone in the hiking
community pretty much knows I am a transplanted New
Englander living in (and bragging about. :-D )
Colorado.

Now, did not think I would generate so many posts on
this subject.

As I said, I think if a person looks remotely like a
certain type, their mind jumps to conclusions.
Though, my end of the trail photos from a few years
ago did prompt some remarks that were funny at the
time. Now, makes me think... Goes with that old
saying "people see what they want to see".

As for Sly's comments about speaking my thickest New
Englandese, hey..I was in Logan commenting about how
great "Sammy Adams Bowhstahn Lagah is for a beeah".
:-)

As a person who grew up in the 'burbs of Rhody, my
slight brush with some prejudice was disconcerting.
One thing to be indignant at prejudice, another thing
to actually experience a small dose.

Oh well.. I'd rather talk about the great hikes I've
had and the great hikes I am going to have.
Next weekend, I promise will have a trip report.
Hopefully about a hike to Estes Cone with a person who
is new to Colorado. Much better way of playing tour
guide than seeing every giftshop in a 50 mile or so
radius. :-)
