This was fun to read, thanks. I especially personally

When I got back from my thru-hike I sold almost all of
my furniture except bookcases (the little that I had
not sold before I left), because...hey, what's the
purpose of having huge pieces of wood in which to
store clothes and stuff when you can simply line it up
against the wall and have at it whenever needed? I
started living on the floor and still do most of the
time (with windows open whenever possible).

And this:

It's taken several years, but the year or so following
my hike, I would use itty bitty amounts of water from
the faucet to wash dishes and brush my teeth. I knew
that was all it really took, because on the trail you
don't use much. I was quick to reprimand my family
for wasting water, but now I'm back to it myself.

Anyhow, thanks for the nice reminder of post hike
life.
