[at-l] Lightweight Hiking Article

Greetings,

While in DC this week, I picked up a copy of the August edition of Blue
Ridge Outdoors, a free outdoors paper. Leonard Adkins wrote an article,
Unburden Thyself! Embrace the light(weight), that highlights many of the
lighter pieces of equipment we've discussed in recent months. Very well
written, it spends a bit of time on the GVP G4 and GoLite Gust backpacks,
the Stephenson's 2R and Wanderlust 2For2 tents, various sleeping systems,
the New Balance 803AT's, and Platypus bottles. What caught my eye, though,
is his comparison of Trangia Westwind to the "Soda Can Stove". He indicated
the tin can stove was about 15 percent faster to boil than the trangia, and
less than 1/3 the weight.

If you're in the VA/DC area, pick up a copy. It's a good read. Alas, no
articles on their website.

Take Care,

Tim

>From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint;
lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For you have been my refuge, a
strong tower against the foe. I long to dwell in your tent forever and take
refuge in the shelter of your wings.
