Wh gets more out of a trail is a subjective thing. 

And, as with anything subjective, debating the topic
will prove fruitless. 

The key thing is to enjoy your time outdoors. 

Walk, run, sitting down painting pictures for hours at
a time....  Nature is a gift.  Who am I to decide how
this gift is enjoyed if it is not doing harm?  (And
yelling at people to move along is definitley not
kosher..)
