If you are not very familiar with identifying snakes, I HIGHLY recommend
that you NOT attampt to pick up a Hognose snake. They do a very good job of
imitating a Rattlesnake, good enough that I have personally seen someone
pick up a Pygmy Rattlesnake thinking it was a baby Hognose....

Unlike the Hognose, the Pygmy WILL bite.
