[at-l] Re: Trailbed Grass Growth Pattern

My thought would be that the trail is sometimes the only open area around,
so things that like sunlight grow along the edges, the center being trampled
daily and not a good growing area. anklebear

My educated guess would be the lower water table caused by the trail
depression combined with mineral disturbance from soil disruption. Grass
would grow faster and healthier in this zone. This combines with the fact
that the trailbed, being barren, would act like a heating surface allowing a
warmer temperature from sunlight where the surrounding forest floor is a
scattered material that absorbs heat more slowly.
