[at-l] 2 man tent

I second this. I have not yet carried this tent any great distance (mostly
car and relatively short backpacking trips), and it is admittedly heavier
than most of the two-man backpacking tents out there, but it's big (the tent
and the vestibule), roomy, tall, easy to set up and take down, ventilates
great, and is absolutely dry - it's got a great full-coverage fly that works
well in heavy rain. You can get in / out on either side so as to not
disturb (sure) the other occupant. It is somewhat darker (medium blue fly,
white over dark blue tent body) than other tents, so if you need a light /
bright tent, you might not like the Meteor Light CD. That's as critical as
I can get with this tent.

I have the 1999 model. You can still find 99 and 2000 models out there for
less bucks than the 2001. I don't believe that the dimensions have changed,
just changes in the door design, etc. I had to agree with Backpacker
magazine when they gave it an editors' choice award this year. It's a great
tent well worth the money.

I love my Sierra Designs Meteor Light CD. It has one of the largest
vestibules on the market, plenty of headroom, it's really easy to set up,
and I've used it numerous times with two people. My girlfriend is 5'11",
and I'm 6'1", and it gives us plenty of room. It, like all two-man tents,
is a bit heavy if you're by yourself (never actually weighed it, but I
guess around 7-7.5 lbs), but when splitting gear between two people it's a
great tent.
