No, he really did carry a cat the whole way. The same person was canoeing
the Mississippi BEFORE his thru-hike, and was paddling along in an area
that saw some intense flooding. On a roof of a house, he sees a stranded
kitten. Canoed the rest of the way with a kitten in tow, and the cat
stayed on the pack for most of the way from Springer to Katahdin.
