Just wanted to add here that anyone traversing the Whites, even if not 
thru-hiking the A.T. or any large part thereof, can be in the same situation 
as those who are...so it isn't just AT thru-hikers that would benefit from 
some changes (...just in case someone is thinking about making the point that 
thru-hikers are a relatively small percentage of the people hiking in the 
WMNF and, therefore, we shouldn't expect "special treatment" as some have 
called it).
