Good question. Some people seem to use a bivy/tarp combo. But, like the tarp
users, those who add all the refinements easily approach or exceed the weight
of my small tent. I prefer its convenience, its vestibule, and its bug
netting. It's a Eureka! Gossamer; mine weighs in at 2.5#.
