Re: [at-l] Lighting a Whisperlight (Was - Another Fontana - Wesser Question)

The Whisperlight is an interesting critter, that replaced the SVEA my wife
and kids threw away out of fear of fires. I too have had difficulty
learning how to use it, but Gutsy showed me how.

After pumping up the fuel bottle, allow just enough gas to wet the bowl
under the stove. Light that and allow it to burn nearly out (or safer to
let it go out). Then you turn the gas up, light at the stove, and you
should have bright blue flame. The idea is vaporizing the gas as it enters
the stove. The WL requires heating near the base/carburetor, while the SVEA
use heat and pressure by lighting a fire on top of the gas tank.

Now, you know why I have a Snowpeak for the future.
