1. Carrying the food instead of the tent is wisdom.  Food goes away as time
passes, the tent must be carried all the way back to the car.  Distrust this
sneaky person.
2. Carry nothing in your first aid kit you aren't trained and prepared to
use.  Dead weight and dangerous.
3. "You can never carry too much water and always have a long sleeve shirt",
New Mexico, 1958, and it still holds true.
4. Fish are a good source of scales.
