RE: [at-l] GSMNP Proposed Itinerary redux

I usually don't mind carrying the tent - I have a bigger pack than he does, so it fits better, and I like the exercise (bearing in mind here that I'm used to doing 3 day trips). I guess it would be a good idea then to distribute the weight of the tent for longer trips . . . thanks - not something that I was planning on doing, but you're right.

I basically have a prefab first aid kit with some supplementary blister and allergy stuff. I do have a snake bite / bee sting kit - not hard to use but I've heard that they aren't very effective. Does this mean that I shouldn't take it? And I have a tick removal kit - doesn't weight anything, so why not carry it?

1. Carrying the food instead of the tent is wisdom. Food goes away as time
passes, the tent must be carried all the way back to the car. Distrust this
sneaky person.
2. Carry nothing in your first aid kit you aren't trained and prepared to
use. Dead weight and dangerous.
3. "You can never carry too much water and always have a long sleeve shirt",
New Mexico, 1958, and it still holds true.
4. Fish are a good source of scales.

Skippie...
