I teach technical writing at North Carolina State University, but also work
as a freelance writer and as a freelance technical writer/editor.  I ran --
screaming and yelling -- out of the software business in 1998, somewhat as a
result of writing "A Season..."   And I, too, spend waaay too much time in
coffee shops.

BTW: this week I'm terribly bruised and lucky not to have a broken collar
bone.  I pitched myself over the handlebars on my bicycle while riding in
the ditches of the Great Dismal Swamp.  I think it's called an 'endo.'  ;-)
