RE: [pct-l] Washington snow conditions

I've also spent a lot of time stomping around that area and there are lots
of places that may not even melt out this year at all. It's been a
combination of last winter's record snowfall and this summer's coolness.

The Seattle Times published an article on Saturday confirming that this has
been the coldest summer in Seattle in the last fifty years. Temperatures
have been over 80 degrees only 12 times this year, and haven't been over 90
at all. (You can read the complete article at
http://www.seattletimes.com/news/local/html98/rain_19990821.html.)

To add to the fun, the just-released six-month forecast is predicting
another wetter-than-normal winter next year. Oh, joy.
