So far bears have not gone as far as to confront hikers on the trail. I have
heard stories of bears making a "false charge" to get hikers to drop their
packs. Many times, however, a bear will lurk until a hiker leaves his pack
unattended even for an instant --then zoom-bye, bye food. I have seen that in
broad daylight. How far will bears go in the future? It's a guess.
