Has anyone actually seen, heard of, or personally had a bear enter a tent and
have their food taken?
I know this isn't the AT, however, unless there was a bear box or bear pole to
use, I always slept with my food with me in my tent, either that or it was
hanging in plain site at a shelter and I never had a problem. I did hear of a
few incidents.
That said, in the high risk areas along the PCT, unless there is a bear box or
bear pole (you have 'em), I "plan" on stealth camping, with my food with me.
I was also fortunate enough to see six bears along the trail (awesome
animals), all during the day.
