RE: [pct-l] home made alchohol stove

I really like alcohol stoves. I've been using a Trangia Westwind for a year
or so now, and have been quite happy with it. I don't think it is the
ultimate design though, and I've been looking at some of the home made ones.

I think the stove you were referred to can be found at the following URL:

	http://www.geocities.com/Yosemite/3481/stove.htm

I've made one of these, and it was quite efficient but had some quirks.
It's a bit hard to light and there is no good way to drain out excess fuel.
I also think it is a bit fragile.

After a discussion on the AT-L about Esbit tablet stoves I went back and
designed "my own" alcohol burner. I haven't had it on a trip yet, but I've
tried it out at home and it seems "trail worthy" to me. It is very light,
much easier to make (though not as pretty) as the one on the web page, and
(I think) more practical. I'll resend the message I sent to AT-L to PCT-L.
