They called today to mention that they have reached Old Station (travelin=

N. from Belden Town, CA). This leg was very slippery and ice axes were
used frequently to arrest falls and slides. Minor injuries and rough goi=
ng
led them to decide to take a logging road down into Old Station and skirt=
part of the trail. Old Station is not a booming town; the Pizza restaura=
nt
isn't open and the Dinner was closed for renovation. An RV park in town
will not permit hikers in tents to stay there, the hotel is $49 a night.
They are hiking with the Swiss couple and they are keeping about the same=
pace at the moment. =
The group plans on making Burney Falls by Friday (easily).
