My wife and I are still planning to hike this summer, but we are 
leaning toward starting in Canada.  The snow levels up here in 
Washington are well below normal.  In southern California, the Snow 
levels are pretty serious.  Check out Mark Dixon's web page at 
http://www.bigsky.net/mdixon/snow/beach.htm.  Remember, 1995 was 
considered a very tough year to hike north.  Only a few people made 
it.  The snow is so far above 1995 its ridiculous!
