Volunteer America is organizing quite a few activities associated with public lands. If you are looking for something in the Southern California area on weekends, The San Bernardino National Forest has two volunteer groups that the PCT crosses through... The San Gorgonio Volunteer Association, and the Mountaintop Ranger District Volunteer program. The SGVA can be reached via their website, and can assist with requests for the MRDVP.
