We agree that hiking the PCT is 95% mental. However, don't confuse
this with dogged determination! Which can get you into deep trouble.
Yes, you do need the mental to make it to Canada but you can get so
caught up in THE HIKE it is easy to block out potentially serious
physical problems. For example, stress fractures. If not taken care
of early on will not only keep you from Canada, but possible any future
hikes. Sometimes it takes more courage to quite, for a time, than to
doggedly continue on. Experience and maturity are what teach you the
difference between 95% mental and dogged determination!
