I hope someone can show me where I have make my mistake.
I have been planning my food for a thru hike based on the
assumption that fat (ie. olive oil) has 252 calories per ounce and carbs
and protien have approx. 140 cal per ounce. If I have roughly
1/3 of the gross weight of my food in fat and 2/3 in carbs and protien
then I should have about 7000 calories from 2.5 pounds of food per day.
However, I have seen some numbers on the recent messages that make me
think I have overestimated the calories somewhere. Since I am starting
at a lean 155 lbs. I can not afford to drop too much weight due to poor
