[pct-l] ANWR drilling - BLOCKED!

Ted Stevens was the head of the Senate appropriation committee and thus he
understand money and how it influences votes very well. With the oil
reserves in Alaska being depleted, the oil tax rebate that every man, woman,
and child in Alaska receives (after being a resident for one year) is in
jeopardy. Senator Stevens knows that maintaining this "reverse tax" is the
a key voting issue for the majority of Alaskans. Thus he is covering his
constituency base by ensuring the oil and thus the $ keeps flowing. The
real crazy thing is that according to polls +70% of Alaskans favor ANWR oil
drilling. I did not believe this until I spent some time up there this
summer. It's true.
